Weighted scoring.
Travel factor - As to not favor the local racers, racers from out of town are given a “travel factor” to make things more even. It a racer lives outside of a 50-mile radius of the River towns race location, then the racer’s score is multiplied by a factor of 1.5. This is a significant score equalizer.
Difficulty factor - Each race is given a difficulty rating between 1 and 11 (because 1 - 10 is boring) The participants score is multiplied by this factor as part of the total
Scoring example:
Event place difficulty travel factor Total
Humdinger 2nd=8pts X 5 X 1.5 = 60pts.
